The Vedic peace technologies constitute the world’s most ancient and complete homeland defense. Derived from the Vedic tradition of India (the source of Yoga), this ancient wisdom of the Himalayas has been revived in this age by His Holiness Maharishi Mahesh Yogi.

Scientific Research

The Vedic defense has been shown to reduce violence and terrorist acts in almost 50 studies, including independently reviewed research published in top scientific journals.

“This work . . . deserves the most serious consideration.”

“The claim can be plausibly made that the potential impact of this research [on Maharishi's Vedic Defense] exceeds that of any other ongoing social or psychological research program. The research has survived a broader array of statistical tests than most research in the field of conflict resolution. I think this work, and the theory that informs it, deserve the most serious consideration by academics and policy makers alike.”

—David Edwards, Ph.D., Professor of Government
at the University of Texas at Austin

“We have to take these studies seriously.”

“In the studies that I have examined on the impact of the Maharishi Effect [Maharishi’s Vedic defense] on conflict, I can find no methodological flaws, and the findings have been consistent across a large number of replications in many different geographical and conflictual situations. As unlikely as the premise may sound, I think we have to take these studies seriously.”

—Ted Robert Gurr, Ph.D., Emeritus Professor of Government and Politics at the University of Maryland, author of Violence in America

“We now have a new technology to generate peace in the world.”

“The hypothesis definitely raised some eyebrows among our reviewers. But the statistical work is sound. The numbers are there. When you can statistically control for as many variables as these studies do, it makes the results much more convincing. This evidence indicates that we now have a new technology to generate peace in the world.”

—Raymond Russ, Ph.D., Professor of Psychology at the
University of Maine; editor, Journal of Mind and Behavior

“An unprecedented breakthrough.”

“This book describes an unprecedented breakthrough in our ability to understand and seriously address the fundamental problems of violence and terrorism.”

—John Davies, Ph.D., Co-Director, Partners in Conflict and Partners in Peacebuilding Projects, Center for International Development and Conflict Management, University of Maryland

Meet the Authors

Dr. Robert Keith Wallace, a neurophysiologist, conducted research in the 1970s, which showed the remarkable biological changes occurring during the practice of the Transcendental Meditation® technique. This research shocked the scientific community when it was published in Science and Scientific American, but eventually led to the widespread acceptance of meditation in the Western world. In Victory Before War, Dr. Wallace turns his attention to the advanced Vedic peace technologies and shows how they can be used for homeland defense.
